"The FGL.com community and marketplace are currently down for maintenance"

the communication

PS: Flash devs are great :) some of HTML5 too though ;)

PS2: Flash (web) games is one of few most wonderful segments of entire video game industry through all its history! its all about monetisation system wich drives you to one simple scheme - make enjoyable game experiance for your player. that is phenomenon we all love in web. lats hope it will live as long as games themselves... in some form.

When the marketplace will be back?  Anyone know an estimated date?

If I not own a personal website, which other way recommend to show my games to possible sponsors?

no ideas q.q

If I not own a personal website, which other way recommend to show my games to possible sponsors?

thats my case too, so if someone got ideas please share.

and atm i got emergency plan - to get personal "website business card for a projekt". just a random 1 time site so i could site lock game and link to it.

if anyone interasted thats my way to do it: 1) you can get free site domen on dot.tk (i cant register there but 1 time domen is fine for the purpose i think), there are some more free domens as i know but didnt tested (.ml .ga .cf .gq2) host files on dropbox or google drive. you need index (website base) + your_game.swf (if you flash like me) 3) if you are bad at site building like i am you can create simple website fast by useing programm kompozer made by Mozilla, or some other solution you want.

another way https://byet.host/ - some free but yet crazy domens and other stuff (i didnt tryed it yet but it might work too).

I hope it helped :)

Anybody else suspect it might be permanent?  The marketplace seems to be really slow these days...

Information was released on their blog https://blog.fgl.com/  , this is really unfortunate, does this mean the marketplace is gone for html5 and unity built games in FGL as well?

Yes, the marketplace is no more.

We have created a forum for you to post your titles so you can still get them out there and potentially have them seen by publishers : https://home.fgl.com/forums/view-forum?forum_id=46

https://blog.fgl.com/2016/10/flash-marketplace-shutting-down/

Commercial close is never fun times and we understand Lucrative / FGL have pivoted to Enhance.  Likewise rebuilding a legacy server is complex and has to be financially warranted.  That said, contradictory communication is avoidable ... as of today the message on the site reads "The FGL.com community and marketplace are currently down for maintenance" whereas a blog reads "Flash Marketplace Shutting Down" (future tense).  Finding the latter is hindered because of the former.

Shutting down the Flash (and HTML5 and Unity) Marketplace is no surprise, but stating that the community is as "lively as ever" seems irresponsible in relation.  Only a handful of members discovered these replacement forums during the last week, the volume of Enhance related posts have always been few, many of the community features no longer work (e.g. profiles, subscribe to thread), and the drop off has been sharp during the last 24 months.  I am unsure why anyone would commit their time to these forums now?

I thank FGL for the service provided over the years, and I wish them well for the future.

Hey everyone,

Yes, it is sad, but as I state in the blog update, I think this is something we probably should have done some time ago.  I still worry we may have done more harm than good by leaving the marketplace up so long.  Both to developers and to FGL.

@b10b, thanks for your comments. To some of your statements:

1) contradictory statements: I apologize.  We made the best decision with where we are that we could.  Our Head of Engineering is out and has been out on Jury Duty for over 2 weeks now.  It's been a huge strain on us and with everything going on with mobile (there are some exciting things coming!) it was a nightmare to handle the marketplace issues on top of everything else.  We wanted to get the message out to everyone because it wasn't fair to leave everyone in the dark, so we decided to push out a blog post before we could change the other wording.  I honestly didn't think this would be a big deal to anyone, so again I apologize.

2) community is lively as ever: I would argue with you here.  I have to admit one thing I hate about writing a blog post or even a forum post is people will jump on what you DON'T say, and I've never found a way to avoid that. When I say the community is lively, yes forums are a part of that (and I do see daily posts) but also things like our social media interactions, our newsletter interactions, our chat room (which, granted is down right now, but had a core group of devs that I'm sure will be back when it's back up), our daily logins, our daily blog viewers, our daily sign ups, and so forth.  It's also something we're hoping to foster and grow, but as I mentioned in the blog post, we had more questions about the forums being down than the marketplace.  That really says something.  And, as for some of the other features we've lost, we should be brining those back over time.  We definitely want to support the community.

Chris, I hear what you're saying about leaving the marketplace up past-relevancy, and perhaps a roadmapped closure would have felt better than unforeseen events.  But I hope you won't worry about that now - be proud with what you achieved and where you're going next.

Oh man! Sad news indeed, makes sense tho... It was great while it lasted! Really appreciate what FGL did for us, big thanks.

I hope the forum thing works for the folks using it (there are a bunch of cool looking games already!), maybe I'll give it a shot in the future.

Good luck!

It's really unfortunate to hear that the FGL market place is now gone, I remember when I used this site often to find new publishers or communicate in the forums. Best of luck to the FGL crew, we do really appreciate what FGL has provided us the past few years, maybe I'll give enhance a try in the future for mobile if my games can pass the quality check.

Just so you know, you do not have to pass our QA to use Enhance™.  The QA is for the special promotion we are currently running.

Even if there was no promotion going on, I would encourage any mobile dev to use Enhance™.  It is a game changer when it comes to implementing sdk's.

Your game developer success story is great indeed and very motivating. Have you thought of staying together with FGL on Mobile, too and using Enhance for your games?

Im thinking of it, to trade it for my applovin which has low ecpm, can u link me to unity plugin for it? I will try to take a look on it and see if the ecpm is good.

thanks

Eanjo7, thats one of the great things about Enhance™, we offer networks like applovin and unity but so many more.  If you want to improve your eCPM, you can easily go back and forth between ANY network you want.  You can even setup a waterfall of networks to better your fill rate and overall eCPM.    Have you been over to the Enhance™ page and seen the different networks and services we provide yet?

There probably isn't a better time to use Enhance™, since we are right now giving developers $50 just to use it!

I'm sure you have heard of this promotion however if you have not, follow this link for more details : http://fgl.io/hfa
