recenter the main element of the icon 1 and put the tile of the icon 2 smaller behind, also add a gradient to the blue sky, cause it is certainly too uniform...

Would suggest icon 2, since it is further zoomed out and the character looks more discrete...

I prefer icon 1 since it is more attention grabbing.
You can add a gradient to the sky as suggested by Blackizzy and possibly a border to give it a more polished look.

Also posted some feedback for your game:

Sorry, i meant the *title. The character shown in front should be nearer to the center, because there is no other element on the sides to balance. If you don't want to recenter it, you could put another visual element on the right to compensate, and i really think you should add this element, cause right now it looks 'naked' a bit.

It's better but still it lacks element in the background, try adding the title, some mountains, clouds, buildings or whatever is an element of the gameplay...

Latest one is a much better icon.

Couple of suggestions to try out:

  • single color border (dark yellow one?), so it doesn't attract too much attention
  • and slightly blur the rainbow in background, to give more emphasis to the main character

This is the nicest one yet.

I would try to make the thumbnail more dynamic.  I see you have a light source, but no shadows. At the same time the main character has 2 light sources, I would stick with just one.

I agree with danielgoel as well, the rainbow really stands out (more than it should) as does the border.

Good luck.

Indeed it's a lot better. I also agree with the general suggestions. Try to make the border one color, preferably orange complementary color of the blue sky, or neutral black or grey. I think one last layer of detail could make a good difference in the background, i.e: pale mountains or trees fading to blue. You can also convert those to symbol and add an adjust color filter + add a color effect filter¨/tint in wich you'll be able to add blue to that new element and have it perfectly blended.

hi all,

After getting more usefull suggestions i have reupdated icons.

i put some balloons

rainbow and balloons are both slightly blur

icon-1 (orange border)

icon-2 (darker border and bit heavy outer gradient).

still looking for your suggestions.

GOD bless you all.

At this distance the balloon should'nt have those highly saturated/vivid colors and should fade to blue and be lighter(now, the orange of the ballon melt with the forearm of the character and make it looks fuzzy), a good amount of space around the main character should be empty to make it breath and put focus on. I personnally prefered the rainbow sharp instead of blur. Sorry for being constantly criticizing your work, i do the same with mine recently and put insane amount of time playing with elements, so you are not alone...

hi  Blackizzy and all others,

for me it was very hard to pick that what you are saying. what i understood, translated it in re-updated icons below.

have given that blur rainbow some more brightens.

have given balloons beval gradient  and  used alpha to blue color to creat fade effect etc.

it is an honour for me to receive some great suggestions from you and all other devs out there.

icon-2

I still prefer the very first icon with the rainbow only, the problem of the balloon, i think, is that their colors just interfere too much with the front character, those could also be only shapes because they are supposed to be far away and their colors should fade to blue, their contrast should be very low.

These new (the current 2 as well the last 2) all look pretty good :)

I think what Blackizzy suggested was that the balloons should blend in with the sky. To get that effect you can either increase their transparency, or tint them with the sky color, which will give them sort of a distant feel simulating "Depth Fog" effect.

Overall the icons are going in the right direction and you should have a pretty nice icon with a couple more iterations ;)

Yep, better to go with 1, never mind the elements in the background
