Doh! That's too bad! Hopefully the extra 24 hours added to the deadline will at least give you a chance to get something finished in time.

Good luck! Laughing

Coincides with London Film and Comic Con :( Shame. Will still try to find time to make an entry though!

Hey phrygn!

We'll be updating the first post of this thread with a link to the video, similar to what we did for the first fgl Game Audio Jam Smile

The (public & admin) judging will start shortly after the ending date (posted in the first post) and will end about 48 hours later, which is when they'll be announced. We'll also be tweeting about it @FGL_TeamFGL.com on FB, and +FGLgames on Google+. Feel free to follow along from any of those sites for updates.

Please let me know if we can help with anything else! Laughing

Apologies for the slight delay in bringing the video live everyone, I had a bit of trouble with my connection at just the wrong time!

Please synch your game audio to this video and send it on over to me.

Good luck and have fun everyone!

And that concludes our 2nd Game Audio Jam!

Unfortunately, it would seem that folks were either not interested or too busy to participate this time around. Since we did not receive any entries to this jam, we're seriously considering pulling the plug on the Game Audio Jam to focus on our other events.

Please let us know what you think about this event and whether or not we should keep it around. We'd love to hear from you!

Your response could determine the future of this fgl Game Audio Jam event!

wow. this is a bummer from people. I see alot of "Experienced composer and sound designer" posts looking for jobs, yet no one cares to participate in something that might advertize them better?

that's too bad. I wouldn't mind posting the next audio jam on other forums as well, to help exposure of this competition.

Cheers

Ariel

As much as I and a few others have tried in the past to give it a boost, the audio forums are barely clinging to life. It could be a matter of scheduling, or just not knowing that this exists.  I think if more promotion went into an event like this it would fair better.

I know I was busy this weekend, as was two other audio devs that I know of.

The problem is that as much as "musicians" want the spotlight, most are afraid of success in any measure.  While they may do great from day to day, just being in the credits, they may not be capable of handling the added pressure of a spotlight.

Maybe I'm thinking too deep into it, I dunno.

I would however like to attempt one of these jams one day.

I'm assuming most people are simply afraid of how 'losing' would effect their ability to sell themselves. I'm of the opinion that these kinds of things don't matter one bit in the realm of commerce. They are supposed to be exploratory, artistic and, sometimes, weird. Commerce (marketing, selling, client relations, client retention, scheduling, delivering) and artistic endeavors such as this are not the same thing. Even if it's set up to have 'winners' and 'losers', it's not going to affect your business.

I hold fast to the notion that 'art is not a competition'. I also loathe the idea of a democratic system choosing what's 'best'. All that aside, these jams seemed to be a good way to try things you might not usually try, go in different directions or basically just do freaky things all in the safety of not having a client to get pissed at you.

I wish things were different. I wish our audio community could do things like this, share techniques afterwards, hear things that they would have never thought of, etc. It is what it is.

A possible way to move forward would be to do it ourselves. Schedule it so a core could participate. People could comment, people could critique, but no formal winners.

Unfortunately it clashed with London Film and Comic Con for me - that wiped out my weekend days, and with work on Monday (and socialising afterwards) I didn't have a chance to fire up a DAW this time :(

I'm hoping there will be another though, as I also was too busy to participate in the first!

Activity in the audio community would be great, self planning a jam is interesting as well.

I agree that I wish the community shared more info on their processes, we sit at home now, not in a studio to pick up tricks from that other guy.  The audio forum can be a great place to learn from one another.

Perhaps these comments airing out in a forum other than in the audio community area will catch the attention to other audio guys and start some interesting conversations.

I totally would have participated had I known this was a thing! I was just checking out the latest newsletter and saw something about an audio contest and immediately was like "WHAT? WHEN? MORE??"

I don't think folks are avoiding entering, I think nobody knew it was happening! Maybe advertise these competitions on the site a little better. I come here at least 2-3 times a week. I almost never check the forums though.

Really hope you guys decide to do more! I know quite a few people who would love to participate.

so we have at least 5 potential contesters. I'm willing to advertise it on audio forums if the FGL team is willing to try another time.

Not to mention, there's a whole community of audio folks at newgrounds audio forums who I bet would love to take a stab at something like this. Not to mention the /r/gameaudio community. I'd also be more than happy to help spread :)
