So, I started playing around with Unity and my mind has been blown! It's so damn convenient!

I've been an Actionscript 3.0 developer, then a Haxe one, since I've been into licensing (Flash and HTML5), but seeing those markets die, I want to do a bigger 3d game soon.

So how many of you fear that you're getting addicted to Unity? That this thing is so easy it will destroy game development? That you'll become a very bad coder, since you don't have to code much by yourself when using it?

If you want your game to perform well, you'll still need to be a good coder. In fact you have much more to think about in these terms than the average Flash game.

This makes me love Unity even more then!

Yeah, it's pretty fantastic. I want to be able to dedicate more time to it :)

My favorite thing about it thus far is adding a character to the game, exposing the equipped weapon variable to the inspector, dragging and dropping weapon prefabs, trying out new weapons without recompiling, and live editing the variables for said weapons for even further tweaking.

Nothing in game development has ever come close to the above flexibility and convenience. It isn't perfect, there are things I don't like, or find confusing, but overall it's amazing.

I've only started really looking into it, nd find it particularly friendly to learn. Definitely looking forwar to trying out some greener pastures after regular poor showings in the flash/sponsorship model.
