HOW IT WORKS

We use the Followers community system here on FGL to watch for new releases from every one in the group:

When we see a message like this, we play for 5-15 minutes and provide as much feedback as possible.  The goal is to have a quick burst of meaningful feedback within the first few days of release.

The system only works if everyone actually participates though.  I imagine developers who release games more frequently would be more inclined to participate in the system than devs with less frequent releases, but I'm not going to turn anyone away.  The only requirement is that you're willing to provide more than 1-2 sentences of feedback.

RULES

You are expected to leave a review within one week of a feedback request.  Failure to do so will result in a strike against your membership.  Three strikes and you'll be ejected from the group.  A strike will be removed from your membership if you remain active in the group and provide feedback as requested.  The group only works if everyone is leaving feedback, regardless of if they're receiving any at the time.

MEMBERSHIP

I'll limit the membership to 15 people for the time being to see how active such a system could be.  If every developer releases a new game every month, that would require your feedback every 3 days on average.  That seems reasonable to me.

Here's the link to follow new users:  https://www.fgl.com/manage_followers.php?mode=following

Great Idea!

I'm up for it. And I already give feedback for 5-6 games a month. So 10 games a month is doable.

You can look at my public page and see that there are 5 Great Posts. I have also reached player level 2 (15 Great Posts), so my feedback is somewhat helpful :)

So can I Join the group ? I have already started following you :P

Do you expect members to give feedback 1x per game, or once per major update? (your text says release, but your screenshot says update)

Maybe we can make a special message like:

Requesting feedback from the Feedback Exchange Group

And only on that message do we review the game. This way the developer can decide at which point he/she wants the game to be reviewed by the Feedback Exchange Group

Reviewing on each major update might be a little overwhelming.

Maybe we can review each game twice, once initially, and once just before opening for sponsorship, i.e. after many major changes. What do you think about that.

I wouldn't expect anyone to review the same game multiple times.  Feedback is best during its first impression.  The screenshot I used was just an example.

I like the idea of using a special message but I'm wary of convoluting the process.  On the plus side, "Major Update" notices are only broadcast to users who can actually play the game, so any major update message involving "general feedback" should suffice.

I've added danishgoel and RTLShadow to the member list.  Make sure you two follow each other also.

This is an extremely good idea, both for the purposes of getting quality feedback and getting it almost immediately. I'd definitely like to be a part of this. I write very good reviews, complete with gameplay videos sometimes. :)

The immediacy of the feedback is going to be the biggest boon, I agree.

I've added you to the list and followed you.  Make sure you follow everyone else.  A little surprised the list is growing so slowly, heh.

Yes this is a Great initiative! I myself am surprised at how slowly this is growing. I was expecting the 10 slots to fill the first day :P

Anyways, it might be good that only people who are serious about giving feedback are joining this group :)

Just wanted to point out I've been informed I will not be having internet until next Saturday (11/17, we are moving). So if I don't respond/follow someone until then, I'm sorry!

I'm also surprised there hasn't been more interested. Thought it would fill up in no time.

Personally it's too much of a commitment for me. I'm interested in a group who will return the favor when you review  them, but review every game by everyone on the list is a little much for me.

Good luck!

I was also thinking about such a system. Maybe we can start a Feedback Trading Thread. Where we can list games that need feedback (similar to "Finished Games with no luck ?" thread). And when someone reviews a game from the list and lists his own game to be reviewed, the favor is returned by the developer of the game reviewed.

But this Group is something else. It guarantees quality feedback from 9 developers is a very short time. This can be a boon for quick development cycle.

I don't intend to upload enough in the long term to make it worth my while to join this group. I will instead offer to give feedback to anyone that needs it, provided that their game is mostly finished or enough so that I can make meaningful comments.

Done. No-one other than you is following me at the moment, though. :p

Come on, forum! This is a great idea. Only needs 6 more people to really work.. sure you'll have to spend a little time every week doing a review or two (if that, it's unlikely that everyone on the list will release a game every month, I sure as hell don't!), but it'll all be worth it when you hit upload on a game and instantly get 9 other reviews of top-notch quality. :)

Plus it's self-moderating. If someone in the group gives you a half-assed review, then you can half-ass theirs when they do an upload. There is a lot of incentive for people to give a really quality review with this system.

Really? I started following you 2 days back! I am following all the 3 members besides me right now :)

Come on guys, lets see this grow, we only need 6 more members.

On a side note : Should I consider the group active right now ? i.e. If i set my game for feedback right now, can I expect 3 great feedbacks :P

Ah, cool, I guess the forum doesn't always give you a message when someone follows you.

And sure, if you want to set your game for feedback right away, go for it. I'll review it. Is it the one in your sig, or some other newer game that isn't visible yet?

thanks pepperpunk, yes it is the game in my sig.

But wait till I send the message requesting feedback as I am trying to get around to making some changes to it then collaborating with an artist and purchasing some audio to make it a good game. I hope I'll be able to do these soon :)

I don't see why not.  At this rate, it might never hit 10 members.  8D

I think if you follow someone, you don't get a message when they follow you back.  It's only the first link in the chain that's reported.
